My uncle played against him said he was one of the toughest. I read once that he broke a bone in his arm or leg and argued to go back on. Tough man

I actually had the honor of caring for Dan's daughter Nola and son in law Dennis at the end of their lives. Both a pleasure to care for. Dennis Flannery was a beautiful gentleman right until the end.
