This bloke was the hardest tackler I have ever witnessed. No one and I mean no one hit harder.

Probably about 6'4", but could he hammer in a tackle. What ever happened to him?

I think he runs a cattle property in central QLD. Jack Gibson nicknamed Charlie "The Hitman"

I played along side of Charlie at Valleys in Brisbane and was always glad it was not against him. Charlie was a nice bloke and great player and never belted the smaller players

A true hard man. Still recall Charlie winning games almost single handed for South Sydney with his brutal tackling.

Charlie Frith is a member of one of the most successful farming families in Australia. They have substantial land-holdings in QLD and NT.

Is this the "wandolin" sheep station I boy-- when as a Iackeroo-- I "baby sat in 1964 (along w/ his older sister and younger brother) when their parents went to the horse races on weekends. Years later one of my sons worked for him at HIS property north of Roma, as a result of which I understood that he had played professionally. So, the Charles that I knew could very well be THIS Charlie; moreover, his tall station owner father was a physically large man and no doubt tough, which his then-7 (?) year old son Charles was, too.

As has been stated Charlie was a hard hitter, fearless ..He was ,and probably is the most gentle of gentlemen off the field.I knew as a mild mannered bloke , home from Sydney ,relaxing in his home town of Roma..He drank his share but always carried himself with dignity.(well, almost)..I’m happy to say I knew Charlie..

Charlie Frith Souths front rower was a big hitter. I'm told by a friend of mine who
knew him and said he was a real gentleman and belied his persona on the football field. Against Wests he hit one of their front rowers in a massive big hit and I'm told he was nearly in tears because he thought he killed him.

Kevin (Charlie) Frith was nicknamed the “Monk” by Jack Gibson because he didn’t drink or smoke .
Jack spotted him playing in Qld & when asked why he wasn’t off to the pub to get pissed with his team mates after the game . The monk said …. Why ?
Jack said ….Your just the man we need .
Come to Sydney & play for me .
He lived i@ Jacks place until he settled into Sydney .
He currently lives in Bangor ( in the shire)
